Healthful, wholesome nutrition never tasted so good. With the oven-baked flavor that dogs love, Innova HealthBars are a nutritious reward. Innova HealthBars are intended for intermittent, supplemental feeding. As with all treats, please adjust the amount of food fed when giving treats to help your pet maintain a healthy weight.

Innova HealthBars include wholesome and nutritious ingredients from each of the five basic food groups – meat, dairy, vegetable, fruit and grain. Innova HealthBars are the first baked dog treats to incorporate lean turkey and chicken, cottage cheese, vegetables and fruit along with whole ground grains to create a dog treat unequaled in nutritional benefits. Compare Innova HealthBar baked dog treats to any other dog treat, and we’re sure you’ll agree that there is a significant, healthful difference.

Innova HealthBars are baked at low temperatures to ensure a more uniform and evenly baked treat. This gentle processing protects heat-sensitive nutrients and maximizes the intensity of the turkey and chicken flavors. We then seal in the freshness and flavor in re-sealable, oxygen-barrier bags to lock in the “fresh-baked” flavor and goodness.

  • Made with healthful ingredients from all five food groups

Innova HealthBars - Small Bars are available in 26 ounce, 4 lb. and 10 lb. packages.

Nutrient Analysis

Commonly referred to as Typical Nutrient Analysis (NA), this describes the nutrient content that a specific pet food formula is expected to achieve based on data from the formula database, or in some cases, from an actual laboratory assay. The goal in posting the Typical NA is to provide nutritionists and veterinarians with information that can aid in the treatment of clinical problems such as a cat with struvite or in working with overly obese dogs to prescribe feeding amounts and diet choice for the animal's success. For more information, read our NA FAQ's.

Ingredients

Turkey

Turkey is the clean combination of flesh and skin with or without accompanying bone, derived from the parts or whole carcasses of turkey or a combination of thereof - exclusive of feathers, heads, feet, and entrails.

Turkey is an excellent source of highly digestible protein. Natura uses high-quality turkey in many of our formulations.

Chicken

Chicken is the clean combination of flesh and skin with or without accompanying bone, derived from the parts or whole carcasses of chicken - exclusive of feathers, heads, feet, and entrails.

Chicken is an excellent source of protein.

Barley

Barley is a major food and animal feed crop, a member of the grass family Poaceae. Ground barley is the entire barley kernel, ground or chopped.

Ground Barley is a good quality source of carbohydrates. Because Natura uses the entire barley kernel, it contributes additional protein, barley oil, bran, vitamins and minerals to the diet.

Chicken Meal

Chicken meal is the dry rendered (cooked down) product from a combination of clean flesh and skin with or without accompanying bone, derived from the parts of whole carcasses of chicken -- exclusive of feathers, heads, feet, or entrails.

Natura uses high-quality chicken meal in many of our foods as an excellent source of protein.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is the dry ground product of cleaned oats with the hulls removed.

Oatmeal is a good source of carbohydrate energy. Natura uses Oatmeal with its natural nutrients intact and without preprocessing. A natural, healthy grain that's rich in B vitamins, oatmeal is the featured grain in HealthWise products and is used in Innova and California Natural HealthBars because its sticky texture helps hold the biscuit shape together without using artificial binders.

Potatoes

Potatoes are whole tubers of the plant.

Natura uses only whole, fresh potatoes. They are not pre-processed, so they retain all of their important nutrients. Potatoes provide B vitamins, carbohydrates, zinc, vitamin C, copper, iron, magnesium, niacin and potassium. Natura uses only fresh, whole fruits and vegetables, just like you would buy at the grocery store.

Rice

Rice, unless listed as brown rice, is the de-hulled rice kernel, without the bran -- known as white rice.

Oats

The whole oat grain with only the hull removed.

Chicken Fat

(naturally preserved with mixed Tocopherols) Chicken fat is obtained from the tissues of chickens in the commercial process of rendering or extracting.

Chicken fat is the highest of all animal sources in linoleic acid (over 23%), an important element for skin and coat health. Because Natura uses such high-quality chicken, this is a high-quality source of fat (Preserved with Mixed Tocopherols, a Natural Source of Vitamin E).

Herring

Herring is the clean tissue of undecomposed whole herring or herring cuttings, either or both.

Herring is an excellent single-source protein. It is also an excellent source of Omega 3 fatty acids. Natura uses whole, high-quality herring, which are ground and added to the ingredient mix.

Flaxseed

Flaxseed is the whole seed of the flax plant.

Flaxseed is a good source of both soluble and insoluble fiber. Together these fibers aid in digestion and help to maintain good stool consistency. Flaxseed is also an excellent source of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids (such as alpha-linolenic acid). These fatty acids help produce the soft, luxuriant coat on your pet for which Natura is known.

Apples

A member of the rose family, the apple has a compartmented core and is thus classified as a pome fruit.

Apples are an excellent source of dietary fiber. About 81% of the fiber is soluble; most of it is of a type called pectin. Apples provide both soluble and insoluble fiber, some vitamin C and beta carotene, and potassium and boron. Natura uses this nutritious fruit in its whole form to obtain all of its wholesome nutrients.

Carrots

Carrots are the roots of the carrot plant, and a member of the parsley family.

Innova dog and cat foods contain whole fresh carrots.

Cottage Cheese

Cottage cheese is the result of separating milk or cream into curds and whey. The curds are drained and pressed to form the soft, white, spoonable cheese.

Cottage cheese is an excellent source of calcium, phosphorus, protein and vitamins. Natura uses high-quality cottage cheese, straight from its retail container. The cottage cheese has only trace amounts of lactose and because of its limited inclusion in the formula, the ultimate amount of lactose in the finished product is insignificant and would not be in sufficient supply to cause an intolerance problem.

Alfalfa Sprouts

Alfalfa sprouts are a member of the legume family.

Alfalfa sprouts are an excellent source of key nutrients, including vitamin C, iron, magnesium and manganese. Natura uses fresh, high-quality alfalfa sprouts to add these important nutrients to our foods.

Eggs

Eggs are the whole of the reproductive body produced by hens.

Eggs are an excellent source of protein, with naturally occurring complex combinations of amino acids. Natura uses only whole eggs in our products.

Pumpkin

Pumpkin is a rich source of alpha-carotene and beta-carotene, fiber, vitamins C and E, potassium, magnesium, and pantothenic acid.

Calcium Carbonate

Calcium carbonate is a mineral that is true to its name by containing a minimum of 38% calcium.

The calcium in bone provides structural integrity to the skeleton and also contributes to the maintenance of proper blood calcium levels through ongoing resorption and deposition. Circulating calcium has essential roles in nerve impulse transmission, muscle contraction, blood coagulation, the activation of certain enzyme systems, the maintenance of normal cell-membrane permeability and transport, and cardiac function.

Potassium Chloride

A chemical compound, KCl, a colorless or white, cubic, crystalline compound that closely resembles common salt (sodium chloride). It is soluble in water, alcohol, and alkalies.

Potassium plays various roles in metabolism and body functions. It assists in the regulation of the acid-base balance and water balance in the blood and the body tissue. It assists in protein synthesis from amino acids and in carbohydrate metabolism.

Dicalcium Phosphate

Dicalcium Phosphate is a calcium salt of phosphoric acid.

Dicalcium phosphate provides both calcium and phosphorus, which are vital for building and maintaining strong bones and teeth. Calcium also regulates heartbeat and other muscle contractions and is necessary for proper blood clotting. Phosphorus plays an important part in the body's energy production.

Choline Chloride

Choline chloride is a vitamin "like" essential nutrient.

It is necessary to nerve function and fat metabolism and can be manufactured in the body but not at a sufficient rate to meet health requirements.

Zinc Proteinate

A very bioavailable source of the essential mineral, zinc.

Iron Proteinate

A very bio-available source of the essential mineral, iron.

Biotin

Biotin is a water-soluble, nitrogen-containing B-vitamin essential for growth and well-being in animals.

Biotin is found in many different foods, but eggs provide a very rich source. Deficiencies are not generally a problem; however, the treatment of dogs and cats with antibiotics that decrease the bacterial population of the large intestine can cause an increase in the dietary requirement of biotin.

Copper Proteinate

A very bioavailable source of the essential mineral, copper.

Manganese Proteinate

A very bioavailable source of the essential mineral, manganese.

Niacin Supplement

The regulatory term use for vitamins in the niacin family that have nicotinamide biological activity.

Calcium Pantothenate

Calcium pantothenate is a B vitamin known as Vitamin B5. It is water-soluble, absorbed from the intestine, and excesses are excreted in the urine. The body has a limited ability to store the vitamin.

Calcium pantothenate is converted in the body to a substance called "coenzyme" an important catalyst in the breakdown of fats, carbohydrates and protein for energy. It also functions in the production of fats, cholesterol, bile, vitamin D, red blood cells, and some hormones and neurotransmitters. This vitamin prevents graying of hair in some animals. Natura includes this important vitamin in our entire line of dog and cat foods.

Folic Acid

Folic acid is a Vitamin of the B complex that is water-soluble and essential in animal metabolism.

Folic acid is absorbed from the small intestine and small amounts are stored in the liver and other tissues. Excess is excreted in the urine. Its main function is to maintain the cells' genetic code and regulate cell division. It is essential for the normal growth and maintenance of all cells. Like several of the other B vitamins, folic acid is synthesized by the bacteria of the large intestine in dogs and cats.
